Mumbai – CodeSkin recently hosted a focused media roundtable with its Founder, Oscar Pereira, where he spoke about the changing skincare landscape and the urgent need for credibility in the industry. Reflecting on his journey, including his earlier venture acquired by L’Oréal in 2013, Pereira shared that his return to skincare was driven by growing concerns around misleading claims and ineffective products in the market.
At the core of CodeSkin’s approach is a clear focus on science-backed formulations over trends. Pereira emphasized that the brand does not follow viral fads unless supported by credible research. He highlighted that CodeSkin avoids over 1,700 restricted ingredients and does not rely on perfumes or superficial appeal, choosing instead to prioritize efficacy, safety and long-term skin health.
Addressing industry challenges, Pereira spoke about the rise of greenwashing and misinformation, particularly through social media. He pointed out that excessive use of multiple active ingredients is damaging consumers’ skin barriers and stressed that education is key to achieving real results. The brand’s product philosophy reflects this thinking, focusing on non-invasive, performance-driven solutions such as its Hyaluronic Acid Serum for hydration and Barrier Defense Lotion for skin repair.
Looking ahead, Pereira shared that CodeSkin is working on AI-led skin analysis tools to enable guided product selection, while continuing to expand its range of new-age sunscreens tailored for different skin types. Reinforcing that skincare is not one-size-fits-all, he underlined the importance of personalized routines, especially in India’s high UV conditions where sunscreen remains a non-negotiable step.
