The theme for the 12th International Day of Yoga, observed on 21 June 2026, is "Yoga for Healthy Ageing"announced by Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav at the Yoga Mahotsav in Khajuraho, marking the start of a 25-day countdown. India's main national event will be held in Kolkata.

For the diaspora, the day has become a global stage. In the United States, the Indian Embassy will hold a session at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., on 19 June, while a flagship celebration takes over Times Square in New York on 21 June, led by Padma Shri H R Nagendra, The Tribune reported.

The "healthy ageing" framing leans on yoga's documented role in flexibility, mobility and mental well-being into later life — a theme with particular resonance for an ageing first-generation diaspora, and for the second generation now bringing parents to community practice.
